3 Steps To Winter-Proof Your Fragrance Ritual
With Fragrance Expert, Gemma Pinnock
Ever wondered why your signature scent dulls during the chilly season? It’s because your skin is too dry for it to hold, thanks to the weather and central heating. ‘‘That’s why it’s important to switch up your body care and perfume ritual,’’ says our in-house Fragrance Expert, Gemma. For long lasting fragrance, follow her simple steps – and find out what Team MB are wearing this winter.
1.Prep Skin
Carve out dedicated ‘exfoliation time’ during your bath or shower with a body scrub – our Fiery Pink Pepper Body Polisher is enriched with bamboo particles, rejuvenating skin while scenting it with woody-spicy notes that are perfect for winter. Follow up with a Body Lotion and Body Oil for the deepest hydration.
Result: A smooth, all-round healthy glow that Gemma approves as ‘‘the perfect base for your fragrance to bloom.’’

‘‘If your skin is too dry your fragrance won’t hold and may not last very long.’’
Gemma, Fragrance Expert
2.Reach For Richer Notes
During this season there’s less body heat to diffuse your scent, which means we need to dial up the depth in our fragrance wardrobe. Gemma suggests ambery, musky and woody fragrances, ‘‘as these base note-dominant scents are less volatile and therefore longer lasting. Eaux de Parfum also offer a richer experience as they have a higher scent concentration (20%) compared to Eaux de Toilette.’’

3.Layer Scent With Clothes
Use jumper weather to your advantage by layering your perfume. Spritz snug woollens and scarves as the notes really cling to the fibres. You can also mist a t-shirt or camisole to wear underneath. As it hugs your body, the warmth from your skin helps to make the scent last longer.
What Scents We’re Wearing This Winter
‘‘Rose Dunes Eau de Parfum. The velvety rose, rich red fruity facets and opulent base notes of oudh and dark patchouli Sulawesi make it incredibly decadent. I love to spritz it on a soft blanket before cosying up in front of a log fire with a good book, but it’s equally suited to a lavish winter ball or festive cocktail party.’’ – Gemma
‘‘Whenever there’s a colder spell in the air, I always choose Fiery Pink Pepper Eau de Parfum It has a dramatic, spicy edge that keeps me feeling warm when I’m out on walks or busy running Christmas errands (aka stocking up on mince pies).’’ – Pauline
