Our Guide To The Best Winter Staycations
4 UK Destinations Chosen By Team MB
With a rich British heritage, we know how to appreciate the beauty on our doorstep, from the exciting hum of the city to straight-out-of-a-storybook villages. That’s why, before the festive rush begins, we recommend switching off and slowing down with a scenic UK staycation. To help you find the perfect winter escape, our team have been up and down the country visiting their favourite spots.
Tenby, Wales
Top spot for: Long coastal wanders and quaint cafés
Loved by: Alice, Digital Analyst
“The picturesque town of Tenby is a hidden gem in Wales I discovered when visiting a friend. It has a timeless charm and offers a unique blend of natural beauty, rich history and vibrant culture. During the colder months the empty beach is perfect for a morning stroll – and if you’re brave enough, a swim! There are many beautiful coastal walks, but my favourite days are spent roaming round the cobbled streets, window shopping and eating lobster mac and cheese.”
Harbourside, Bristol
Top spot for: Museums and markets
Loved by: Jaime, R&D Laboratory Technician
“A winter break for me isn’t complete without museum trips, lots of coffee and market stops in between. I start my day in Harbourside at the food market and get on the ferry boat for a short trip to Brunel’s SS Great Britain. A great way to spend a cold day under the shelter of a ferry and learn more about Victorian maritime history along the way!”
Kemp Town, Brighton
Top spot for: Sunday roasts and sea views
Loved by: Michael, Sales & Education Development Specialist
“Sitting proudly at the top of Kemp Town in Brighton is my favourite restaurant, Busby & Wilds. If you’re visiting Brighton and looking for a delicious roast, teamed with a fabulous wine list and a great atmosphere, get booking. I have created many wonderful memories and celebrated lots of occasions at this hidden gem. Afterwards, take a stroll alongside Sussex Square, famed to be Lewis Carroll’s inspiration for ‘Alice in Wonderland’. At the foot of the gardens is a tunnel that leads directly to the sea front.”
Cotehele, Cornwall
Top spot for: Winter walks
Loved by: Lata, Senior Creative Artworker
“If you are a keen hiker then Cornwall is perfect for you! I rented a cute little cabin for the weekend and spent most of the evenings cosying up by the fireplace. During the day, I hiked soaking up the amazing scenery and getting some fresh country air. Lots of pubs to visit and definitely lots of walking routes to keep you busy!”
